The Radians Vertex Nano packs real electronic hearing protection into a set of in-ear plugs small enough that you almost forget you're wearing them. Each bud reads the sound around you and reacts in less than 0.02 seconds, dropping the volume the instant a shot goes off, then opening right back up so you can hear the guy next to you or the range officer calling the line. With a 25 dB Noise Reduction Rating, it gives you solid protection without the bulk of over-ear muffs, which is a big deal when you're wearing a hat, glasses, or a cheek weld on a long gun.
These run on a hi-low sound compression system, so you can pick between 85 dB and 105 dB depending on how loud your environment is. Bump it up for indoor lanes or a big magnum, dial it down for casual plinking or hunting. On top of that, you get 5X enhancement of everyday sounds, which means faint noises like footsteps, rustling brush, or a quiet conversation come through clearer than your natural hearing. That combination of protection and awareness is exactly what makes electronic plugs worth the money over foam.
Dedicated left and right plugs are each powered by an efficient 312 zinc air cell, and Radians rates the setup for up to 120 hours of use. Batteries come in the box, plus a bonus spare set so you're not scrambling before your next trip. The sport ear hooks help lock everything in place during movement, and the rubberized soft-touch finish keeps them from feeling clinical or cheap in your hand. There's an optional corded tether if you'd rather keep them hanging around your neck between strings.
A quick word from the range: earbud-style protection is great for outdoor shooting, hunting, and general work, but on a loud indoor range it's smart to double up with a set of muffs over these for extra insurance. That's true of any in-ear electronic plug, not just the Nano.
The Vertex Nano carries a 25 dB Noise Reduction Rating. That's strong protection for an in-ear electronic plug and works well for outdoor shooting, hunting, and general use. For loud indoor ranges, it's a good habit to wear muffs over any electronic earbud for added protection.
Each bud runs on its own 312 zinc air cell, and Radians rates them for up to 120 hours of use. A set of batteries comes installed, plus a bonus spare set in the box. Zinc air cells are inexpensive and easy to find when it's time for replacements.
Yes, that's the whole point of the electronic design. The Vertex Nano offers 5X enhancement of everyday sounds, so conversation, range commands, and quiet noises actually come through clearer than your natural hearing. When a loud impulse hits, the circuitry compresses it in under 0.02 seconds so your ears stay protected.
The Vertex Nano lets you switch between 85 dB and 105 dB compression modes. Use the lower setting for quieter environments like casual plinking or hunting, and bump it up for louder situations. It gives you a little control over how the buds handle sound based on where you're shooting.
