Description

Radian's Raptor and Talon combo tackles two of the weakest links on a stock AR at the same time. You get the ambidextrous Raptor charging handle, arguably the part that made Radian a household name, bundled with the Talon 45/90 ambidextrous safety selector. Both are machined from 7075 aluminum with a MIL-SPEC Type III hard coat anodized finish in FDE, and the whole kit is designed and built in the USA. If you've been running a mil-spec setup and fumbling that tiny factory latch, this is the pairing that fixes it.

What Sets the Raptor Charging Handle Apart

The Raptor's whole reason for being is that mil-spec charging handles were designed back in the 1950s with a small, one-sided latch that forces you to pinch and pull. Radian swapped that for large, serrated latches on both sides, so you can palm-blade or finger-thumb the handle fast from either side. The serrations give you a positive grip with gloves on or bare hands, and the design plays nicely under low-mounted optics where a factory handle gets tough to reach. Radian tested the Raptor past a million cycles, and it rides on oversized roll pins that address a known weak point in the original AR design.

Dialing In the Talon 45/90 Safety Selector

The Talon is a modular ambidextrous selector that installs as a standard 90-degree throw or a 45-degree short throw. You switch between the two by rotating the shaft 180 degrees inside the lower, no need to swap the whole assembly. The levers lock in using a precision-machined dovetail with a spring-loaded retention stud, which means no set screws to back out or strip over time. That screw-less setup is a big reason folks trust the Talon for hard use.

This combo fits standard mil-spec AR-15 and M16 pattern uppers and lowers, and the Talon selector works across most AR-15 and AR10/SR25-pattern rifles. It's a natural fit for a duty build, a competition gun, or just a range rifle you want running cleaner and faster.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the Raptor and Talon combo fit my mil-spec AR-15?

Yes, the combo is built for standard mil-spec AR-15 and M16 pattern uppers and lowers. The Talon selector also works across most AR-15 and AR10/SR25-pattern rifles. If your rifle takes standard mil-spec controls, this is a drop-in upgrade.

What's the difference between the 45 and 90 degree settings on the Talon selector?

The Talon is modular, so it installs as either a standard 90-degree throw or a 45-degree short throw. You choose your setting by rotating the shaft 180 degrees inside the lower receiver, no extra parts needed. The 45-degree short throw is popular for faster thumb sweeps between safe and fire.

Do the Talon selector levers use set screws?

No, and that's one of the Talon's best features. The levers lock in with a precision-machined dovetail interface and a spring-loaded retention stud instead of screws. That means nothing to back out, strip, or shake loose under recoil and hard use.

Does the Raptor charging handle help with gas when shooting suppressed?

The standard Raptor in this combo has a raised rear that helps keep some gas off your face, and its tight, positive latch reduces the sloppy fit that lets gas blow back. If suppressor gas is your main concern, Radian also makes the vented Raptor-SD, but the standard Raptor in this kit still runs cleaner than a typical mil-spec handle.
