The 6mm ARC was built by Hornady to give the AR-15 platform real reach. It sends heavier, high-BC 6mm bullets downrange with flatter trajectory, less wind drift, and more retained energy than 5.56, and it does it with recoil that stays easy to spot your own hits. Out of an 18" tube with a 1:7 twist, this thing stays supersonic and useful well past 600 yards, which makes it a serious option for precision matches, steel, and deer-sized game. Barrel threading is 5/8×24, and the rifle-length gas system tunes the dwell time for smooth, consistent cycling across the full spread of 6mm ARC loads.
Up front you get a proprietary 17" M-LOK free-float handguard with plenty of room for optics, bipods, lights, and whatever else your setup calls for. The Dead Air KeyMo muzzle brake threads straight onto compatible Dead Air suppressors, so going quiet later is a bolt-on job. Radian also includes its Raptor-SD ambidextrous charging handle, which has a ported shaft that pushes gas away from your face when you're running a can, plus an enhanced nitride bolt carrier group designed to cut carrier tilt and friction. Yes. The Model 1 is a complete upper that drops onto any standard mil-spec AR-15 lower receiver, so no gunsmithing is needed. Keep in mind 6mm ARC uses its own bolt, which is already included in the BCG here, along with 6mm ARC-specific magazines. Your 5.56 mags won't feed this round properly.
