Every one of these rifles is assembled by hand, one at a time, then inspected, test fired, and cleaned by a trained gunsmith before it ever leaves the building. That kind of attention shows up everywhere on this carbine, from the billet upper and lower machined to tolerances most production guns never see, down to the titanium forward assist that most people would never think to upgrade.
This version runs a 14.5 inch match-grade stainless barrel chambered in .223 Wylde, so it handles both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO with accuracy neither chambering gets on its own. The muzzle device is pinned and welded to bring the barrel to 16 inches overall, and the mid-length gas system keeps the recoil impulse smooth and easy to manage. Radian did not skimp on the parts list either. You get their Raptor-SD ambidextrous charging handle, the Talon 45/90 modular ambi safety selector, and an ATC AR Gold match trigger that breaks clean enough to make a real difference on target. Ambidextrous controls throughout mean lefties finally get a rifle built with them in mind instead of as an afterthought.
Instead of finishing parts separately and hoping they match, Radian Cerakotes the upper, lower, and extended M-LOK handguard together, so the gray is consistent from muzzle to receiver. A stainless anti-rotation pin locks the handguard and upper into perfect alignment, which matters if you plan on mounting lights or lasers that need to hold zero. The flat top is optic ready, so pick the glass or red dot that fits how you shoot.
This is the rifle for someone who wants to buy once and be done. Duty use, home defense, suppressed range days, or just owning one of the nicest ARs made, the Model 1 Carbine covers it. Yes. The .223 Wylde chamber is designed to safely run both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO ammunition. It also tends to deliver better accuracy than a standard 5.56 chamber, especially with match loads, which pairs nicely with this rifle's match-grade stainless barrel.
The muzzle device is permanently pinned and welded to the barrel, which brings the overall barrel length to 16 inches. That gives you the handier balance and quicker feel of a 14.5 inch setup while keeping the rifle configured as a standard carbine. It is a popular setup for duty and defensive rifles for exactly that reason.
It is set up well for it. The rifle ships with Radian's Raptor-SD charging handle, which is designed to vent gas away from your face when shooting suppressed. The pinned muzzle device is also compatible with quick-detach mounting, so adding a can down the road is straightforward.
