Q set out to build a bolt action that did not borrow a single thing from a Remington 700, and The Fix is the result. Instead of a barreled action dropped into a chassis, the rifle is built around a one-piece receiver that cuts weight and keeps everything rigid. This 16 inch model in 8.6 Blackout weighs in under six pounds, which is remarkable for a rifle throwing .338 caliber bullets. The folding stock adjusts for length of pull and comb height, then folds flat against the receiver so the whole package tucks into a truck or a small case without a fight.
The 8.6 Blackout is Q's own creation, essentially the big brother to 300 Blackout. It runs a shortened 6.5 Creedmoor case with heavy 8.6mm projectiles, and it feeds from standard SR-25 pattern magazines, so mags are cheap and everywhere. The barrel is the key piece: a lightweight stainless tube with an aggressive 1:3 twist that spins those big bullets fast enough to stabilize both subsonic and supersonic loads. Run 300 grain subs through a can and you get an extremely quiet rifle that still hits with authority, or load supersonics for legitimate hunting energy on deer and hogs.
The 45 degree short-throw bolt handle cycles quick and clears large scope oculars, and the two-stage match trigger breaks clean without any tuning. AR-style controls mean the safety and mag release land right where your thumb and trigger finger expect them. Up front, the Q-Sert free-float handguard gives you plenty of attachment points for bipods, slings, and lights, and the muzzle comes threaded M18x1.5 with Q's Cherry Bomb brake installed, ready for a taper-mount suppressor. Whether you are hiking into elk country or working steel with subs, this is one of the most capable lightweight bolt guns on the market.
The Fix feeds from standard SR-25 pattern magazines, the same .308 mags used by most large-frame ARs. One 10-round magazine ships with the rifle, and since the pattern is so common, spares from Magpul and others are easy to find and affordable.
