Q's taper mount system is one of the better suppressor interfaces out there, but the original Cherry Bomb was built around barrels with a matching tapered shoulder. That left a lot of rifles and pistols with standard 90 degree shoulders out in the cold. The Rear End Cherry Bomb fixes that. It's the same Quickie Fast-Attach brake, just cut for a flat 90 degree shoulder so it seats square and torques down properly on the barrels most of us already own. Thread it onto your 1/2×28 muzzle and you've got a rock-solid mounting point for Q's Thunder Chicken, Trash Panda, Jumbo Shrimp, Southpaw, Blind Tiger, and Speakeasy silencers, along with other cans running a Plan-B style mount.
Installation is where this little brake shows some smart design. The front of the unit accepts a 1/2 inch socket, which is the preferred way to install and remove it. No crush washers, no shims, no timing headaches. The 360 degree circumferential ports mean there's no wrong orientation, so you just torque it down and go. Q also machined 11/16 inch wrench flats into the rear of the mount as insurance. If carbon buildup ever glues the brake inside your suppressor, those flats give you a way to break things loose without chewing anything up. It's a small touch, but anyone who's fought a stuck mount knows how much that matters.
At 1.71 inches long and right around 2 ounces of stainless steel, this mount adds almost nothing to the end of your barrel while giving you fast, repeatable suppressor attachment. The taper lock between the brake and the can keeps alignment consistent from one mounting to the next, which is exactly what you want when you're swapping a silencer between hosts. If you're running a Q can and your barrel has a standard shoulder, this is the mount that ties the whole setup together.
The standard Cherry Bomb uses Q's tapered shoulder and is meant for barrels machined with a matching taper. The Rear End version is cut for a conventional flat 90 degree barrel shoulder, which is what most threaded barrels have. Once mounted, both work the same way with Q's Quickie Fast-Attach suppressors.
It's built for Q silencers including the Thunder Chicken, Trash Panda, Jumbo Shrimp, Southpaw, Blind Tiger, and Speakeasy. It also works with other suppressors that use a Q Plan-B style mounting system. Just make sure your can's bore is appropriate for the caliber you're shooting.
The front of the brake is designed to accept a 1/2 inch socket, and that's the recommended method for both installation and removal. A 1/4 inch drive socket tends to fit the front interface best. There are also 11/16 inch wrench flats machined into the rear as a backup in case the mount ever gets stuck inside your suppressor.
