The Honey Badger has one of the better origin stories in the business. Kevin Brittingham and his R&D crew at AAC built the original for an elite special operations unit that wanted to retire their MP5-SDs for something that fired a real rifle cartridge without giving up compactness or suppressed capability. That gun never made it to the commercial market, so when Brittingham founded Q, his team brought the concept back and refined nearly every part of it, from the gas system to the trigger. This is that gun, chambered in 5.56 NATO for folks who want the Badger's handling with the most common rifle cartridge in America.
The spec sheet reads like a wish list. Clear hard coat anodized 7075 aluminum receivers keep the whole package around 4.5 pounds, which is remarkably light for a rifle-caliber pistol. The 9.69 inch barrel wears 1/2×28 threads under a tapered muzzle device designed to play nicely with Q's suppressors, and the adjustable low-profile gas block lets you dial the gun in whether you're running it loud or quiet. A two-stage match trigger and 70-degree short-throw selector round out the controls, and the free-floated 6061 aluminum M-LOK handguard gives you plenty of room for lights and hand stops.
The 2-position telescoping PDW-style brace, developed with SB Tactical, collapses tight against the receiver for storage and transport, then extends when you need more stability. It's a big part of why this gun disappears into a small bag while still handling like something much larger. Because it runs standard AR-15 magazines and familiar AR controls, there's no learning curve, just a 30+1 capacity package that feels instantly natural.

The barrel is threaded 1/2×28 under a tapered muzzle device designed to mate cleanly with Q's taper-mount suppressors, and the adjustable low-profile gas block lets you tune the gun for reliable cycling with a can attached. It also accepts any standard 1/2×28 muzzle device if you'd rather run a different setup.
It does. The Honey Badger runs standard AR-15 pattern magazines and ships with one 30-round mag, so feeding it is cheap and easy. The controls are AR-style too, which means the manual of arms will feel immediately familiar if you've spent time behind any AR platform.
The original concept was built around 300 Blackout with a 7 inch barrel, while this version runs a 9.69 inch barrel chambered in 5.56 NATO. The 5.56 model gives you broader ammo availability and flatter trajectory, while keeping the same lightweight receivers, two-stage trigger, adjustable gas block, and telescoping brace. If you shoot mostly supersonic ammo, the 5.56 makes a lot of practical sense.
Q uses a dye-free clear hard coat anodizing process on the 7075 aluminum receivers, so shades of tan can vary a bit from gun to gun and small cosmetic variations in the finish are normal. It's purely aesthetic and has no effect on durability or function. Plenty of owners consider the slightly raw look part of the Honey Badger's character.
