The 8.6 Blackout Cherry Bomb is Q doing what Q does best: solving two problems with one part. On its own it is a legit muzzle brake that knocks down the recoil of a big .338 caliber round, and the 360 degree circumferential ports mean you just thread it on and torque it down. No timing, no crush washers, no shim kits rolling around your bench. When you are ready to run quiet, that same brake becomes the mount for Q's Quickie XL fast-attach system, so your Porq Chop or Short Chop spins on by hand in seconds and locks up tight on the taper.
The taper mount shoulder is the heart of the design. It aligns the brake with the barrel and the silencer for consistent, repeatable mounting, and it seals off the threads so carbon cannot bake itself into them over a long range day. That means your can comes off as easily after 300 rounds as it did after 3. It is also backwards compatible with standard 90 degree shouldered barrels, so you are not locked into Q barrels to use it.
Installation is refreshingly simple. The front of the brake accepts a 9/16 inch socket, so you can install or remove it with basic hand tools instead of a specialty wrench. It threads onto M18x1.5 muzzles, which is the common thread spec on 8.6 Blackout barrels. One heads-up from the shop: this brake is short by design, so it is not the right candidate for a pin and weld job. Keep it as a removable device and it will serve you well.
Machined from 17-4 stainless steel, the 8.6 Cherry Bomb weighs in at 3.2 ounces, runs 2.27 inches overall, and only adds about 0.8 inches to your barrel. The gold finish is not just for looks either, it makes the brake easy to spot in a parts bin and matches the rest of Q's cherry-themed lineup. If you are building out an 8.6 Blackout bolt gun or large-frame AR, this is the natural starting point for the muzzle end.
This version of the Cherry Bomb uses Q's larger Quickie XL taper mount, which pairs with the Porq Chop and Short Chop silencers. It is not the same taper as the standard Cherry Bomb that runs the Thunder Chicken and Trash Panda, so match the brake to your can before ordering.
Nope, and that is one of the best parts of the design. The ports run 360 degrees around the brake, so there is no top or bottom to index. Thread it on, torque it down with a 9/16 inch socket on the front, and you are done. A thread locker like Rocksett is a good idea but is not included.

Q specifically advises against it. At 2.27 inches overall, the brake is too short to be a good pin and weld candidate. It is meant to be a removable muzzle device and suppressor mount, so plan your barrel length accordingly.
