Q built the Boombox around one idea: take everything they learned developing the Honey Badger, scale it up for a much heavier cartridge, and make short barrels do real work. This is an AR-pattern pistol chambered in 8.6 Blackout, the round Q designed specifically for short barrels and suppressors. The 12 inch 416R stainless steel barrel runs a fast 1:3 twist, which is the secret sauce here. That aggressive twist rate spins up heavy subsonic bullets so they stay stable and hit hard downrange, something conventional twist rates struggle with at subsonic speeds. The details are pure Q. The direct impingement action feeds from SR-25 pattern magazines, with one 20 round mag in the box. 8.6 Blackout is a cartridge Q developed to deliver heavy .338 caliber bullets from short barrels, essentially doing what 300 Blackout does but with a lot more mass and energy. The unusually fast 1:3 twist rate spins those heavy projectiles fast enough to stay stable at subsonic velocities, which also improves terminal performance on impact.
