Most 9mm cans are a stack of baffles in a tube. The PTR Vent 2 is something different. The entire suppressor is 3D-printed as one monolithic titanium structure, so there are no welds, no seams, and no stacked parts to loosen up or fail. Inside that structure sits PTR's patented Purposely Induced Porosity, a metal foam-like material that soaks up and slows expanding gas in ways a machined baffle simply can't. The result is strong sound reduction with noticeably less back pressure and a real cut in that sharp port pop you get on PCCs and roller-delayed guns.
This can was purpose-built for pistol caliber carbines and subguns, and that's where it really struts. On a fixed-barrel host running subsonics, the tone is soft and the gas coming back at your face is minimal. Independent testing from PEW Science on an HK SP5 backed that up with a strong suppression rating, and their write-up called PTR's PIP approach one of the more significant advancements in suppressed small arms. It's full-auto rated for 9mm at 120 rounds before a 10-minute cooldown, with no barrel length restriction, and it also handles .357 Magnum, .38 Special, and subsonic 300 Blackout on 8-inch or longer barrels.
At 7.6 inches long, 1.5 inches in diameter, and just 8.9 ounces, the Vent 2 barely changes how your gun handles. A proprietary PVD coating runs inside and out, fighting erosion and carbon buildup and making cleanup easier after long range days. The rear of the can uses the popular Alpha 1.125×28 thread pattern, and a 1/2×28 direct thread adapter comes in the box, so it's ready to spin onto common 9mm threaded barrels right away. Its high-flow design keeps back pressure low and tames the port pop those platforms are known for. It can also run on tilting-barrel handguns if you add a compatible piston or booster to the Alpha rear mount.
The rear of the can is threaded in the widely used Alpha 1.125×28 pattern, and PTR includes a 1/2×28 direct thread adapter in the box. That means it works out of the package on most threaded 9mm barrels. If you want quicker swaps, aftermarket Alpha-compatible 3-lug mounts and pistons drop right in.

Since the body and core are printed as one piece, there are no baffles to disassemble, which keeps maintenance simple. Fouling does build up in the porous PIP material over time, so periodic cleaning cycles keep performance at its best. PTR notes that several common suppressor cleaners are safe for both the titanium and the PVD coating.
