Inconel is the stuff jet engines are made from, and it shrugs off heat that would beat up lesser materials. That is why the Spiritus 5.56i carries a limited full-auto rating, with PTR specing controlled bursts of 120 to 180 rounds followed by a cooldown. The Diamond-Like Carbon exterior adds a slick, wear-resistant black finish that holds up to rough handling. Despite the tough-as-nails build, the whole can measures right around 6 inches long, 1.625 inches in diameter, and weighs 15.2 ounces before the adapter goes on, so it will not turn your rifle into a boat anchor.
The rear of the can is threaded 1.375×24 HUB, which opens the door to nearly every quick-detach system on the market. Out of the box you get a 1/2×28 direct thread adapter, so a standard 5.56 barrel is ready to go the day it comes home. It is rated for 5.56 NATO on barrels 10.5 inches and up, and it also covers 5.7×28 and 4.6×30 with no barrel minimum, which makes it a handy multi-tasker across a few different hosts.
Independent testing from PEW Science put solid suppression ratings on this can from both a 10.3 inch MK18-style gun and a 14.5 inch carbine, so the performance is not just marketing talk. Maintenance is refreshingly simple. PTR recommends a basic solvent soak to clean the Purposely Induced Porosity structure, so there is no disassembly or baffle scrubbing involved. The monolithic Inconel build means there are no internal parts to lose or reassemble incorrectly.
