This one is chambered in 7mm PRC, cut to 24 inches, and wrapped in Proof's signature carbon fiber over a match-grade 416R stainless liner. The result is a barrel that sheds serious weight while holding its shape when things heat up, which is exactly what you want on a mountain hunt or a long string at the range.
The 7mm PRC pairing here is no accident. Hornady built the cartridge around a 1-8 twist and a 24-inch tube, and that is precisely what this barrel delivers. That fast twist stabilizes the long, heavy, high-BC bullets the 7 PRC was designed to launch, think 175-grain ELD-X for hunting or 180-grain match projectiles for punching paper way out there. It's a flat-shooting, hard-hitting round with manageable recoil, and this barrel lets a standard Tikka action take full advantage of it.
Carbon fiber wrapping isn't just for looks. Proof turns down a full-profile stainless blank, then filament-wraps it with aerospace-grade carbon fiber in a resin matrix. That cuts weight dramatically compared to a steel barrel of the same contour while improving heat dissipation, so your groups stay tight as the barrel warms. The muzzle comes threaded 5/8-24, the standard pitch for brakes and suppressors, so your existing muzzle device should thread right on. Installation is the classic Tikka pre-fit process: remove the old barrel, thread the new one on, and confirm headspace with go/no-go gauges before firing. Tikka factory barrels are torqued on hard, so if you're not set up with a barrel vise and action wrench, a gunsmith can knock this out quickly. It also fits Tikka T3, T3x, and works with the Sako M85 action.
It's designed to thread right onto a Tikka T3, T3x, or Sako M85 action without custom gunsmithing. That said, you'll still want to confirm headspace with go/no-go gauges before firing since Tikka actions can vary slightly. Removing the factory barrel is the tougher part, as they come torqued on very hard from the factory, so many owners have a gunsmith break that loose.
