The 16.5 inch barrel keeps overall length manageable even with a can attached, which is a big part of the appeal of this configuration.

Not in any meaningful way for hunting distances. Barrel length affects velocity more than inherent accuracy, and Proof backs this rifle with the same sub-MOA guarantee as their longer configurations. You will lose some velocity compared to a 20 inch tube, but .308 is a forgiving cartridge and the trade-off buys you a rifle that is noticeably handier in the field and much better balanced with a suppressor.
This model uses Hawkins Precision BDL bottom metal with an M5 inlet and holds 4+1 in .308 Win. The BDL setup keeps the belly of the rifle slim and snag free, which is a nice touch on a gun built for carrying long distances. If you prefer detachable box mags, Proof offers that style in their Elevation MTR line instead.
