Description

Sighting in a thermal scope has always been the awkward part of running one. Paper targets vanish through a heat-sensing optic, and the old tricks like taping foil or strapping on a warm water bottle only get you close. The Pro-Shot SplatterShot Thermal Sight-In targets solve that headache with a passive design that reflects the cooler temperature of the open sky, giving your thermal optic a crisp, high-contrast image to aim at. No power source, no cables, no waiting around for something to heat up. You get three 12"x12" targets per pack, all made in the USA.

How the SplatterShot Thermal Targets Earn Their Keep

Because these are passive targets, they work off the temperature difference between the target surface and the sky above it. The trick is tilting the target back about 10 to 15 degrees toward the open sky so it reflects that cooler air into your optic. Set up right, the contrast pops whether you are running white hot or black hot, and you can dial in a much tighter zero than you would ever get chasing a warm water bottle across the range. Between the thermal reactive face and the splatter impact rings, you see exactly where each round lands.

Grid Lines and Peel-N-Stick Backing Make Zeroing Painless

Each target carries a 1" grid so making point-of-impact corrections is quick math instead of guesswork. The peel-and-stick backing lets you slap them onto a cardboard backer, a target stand, or just about any flat surface without staples or tape. Target backers are included in the pack, so you have what you need to get set up. They are handy for zeroing a fresh optic, confirming a zero after travel, or just burning through a range session with a scope that normally leaves you squinting at blank paper.

Three targets is enough to sort out a new setup and keep a couple in the range bag for next time. If you run more than one thermal rig or shoot with a group, they hold up well across a solid round count before the contrast starts to fade.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do the SplatterShot thermal targets need batteries or a power source?

No. These are passive targets, so there are no batteries, cords, or heating elements involved. They create contrast by reflecting the cooler temperature of the open sky, which is why you only need the target and clear sky above you to make them work.

Why do I need to angle the target toward the sky?

Passive thermal targets rely on the temperature difference between the target face and the sky to show up in your optic. Tilting it back roughly 10 to 15 degrees toward the open sky lets it reflect that cooler air, which gives you the sharpest contrast through the scope. Skip the angle and the image will look dull and washed out.

Can I use these SplatterShot targets with a standard non-thermal scope?

You can shoot at them with any optic since the black and orange splatter face shows impacts to the naked eye, but the thermal reactive properties are the whole point of this target. If you are only shooting with a day scope or iron sights, a regular paper target will do the job just as well for less money.

How many rounds will one thermal target hold up to?

It depends on caliber and how tight your groups are, but passive thermal targets generally give you a good stretch of high-contrast shooting before the surface wears out. The 1" grid and splatter rings help you track impacts the whole way through, and you can stretch the life of a target with thermal pasters if you want to keep going.
