Prvi Partizan built these 7.62x54R blanks for anyone who wants the crack and smoke of a classic Russian rifle without sending a projectile downrange. The round is a full-cased brass blank, meaning the case is drawn out to roughly the shape of a loaded cartridge. That extended profile is what gives you dependable feeding, chambering, and extraction, and it also makes the blanks easy to tell apart from live rounds by feel alone.
The 7.62x54R has been around since 1891 and remains one of the longest-serving military cartridges on earth. It fed the Mosin-Nagant through two world wars and still runs in the Dragunov SVD, the Romanian PSL, and PKM-pattern machine guns. If you own anything in that family, from a surplus 91/30 to a modern designated marksman rifle, this is the blank that matches it.
Reenactors, film and theatrical armorers, honor guards running salute fire, and folks doing function testing all reach for blanks like these. The brass case is loaded with a non-corrosive primer, which keeps cleanup manageable and means you are not racing the clock to scrub your bore after a shoot. You get the muzzle report, the flash, and the ejected brass without the recoil or the downrange hazard of a bullet.
Bolt guns like the Mosin will cycle these by hand with no trouble. For any semi-auto or full-auto platform, you will want a proper blank firing adapter installed. Since there is no bullet to seal the bore, a BFA restricts the muzzle enough to build the back pressure needed to cycle the action. It is worth noting that blank shooting fouls a barrel faster than live ammo, so plan on a thorough cleaning afterward. Loaded to deliver a loud, consistent report every time, these are a solid pick for training days, living history events, and ceremonial use.
For a bolt-action rifle like a Mosin-Nagant, you can cycle these by hand without one. For any semi-auto or full-auto rifle such as an SVD or PSL, you will need a proper blank firing adapter installed. Since there is no bullet to seal the bore, the BFA builds the back pressure the action needs to cycle reliably.
They are made for anything chambered in 7.62x54R, which covers the Mosin-Nagant family, the Dragunov SVD, the Romanian PSL, and PKM-pattern machine guns. The full-cased design mimics the shape of a loaded round so it feeds and extracts like the real thing. It is a great match for surplus rifles and modern builds alike.
There is no projectile, so these produce report, flash, and smoke rather than sending anything downrange. That said, blanks still expel hot gas and unburned powder from the muzzle, so you always want clear space in front of the barrel and proper eye and ear protection. Treat them with the same respect you would any live round.
Yes, blanks tend to foul a bore faster than live ammunition because less residue escapes the muzzle. The upside with these PPU blanks is the non-corrosive primer, which keeps that fouling from being aggressive. Plan on a solid cleaning session after a day of shooting and your rifle will be good to go.
