PPU's Standard rifle line brings European-made precision to big game hunters who value dependable performance without breaking the bank. This 7mm Rem Mag load pairs a 174-grain pointed soft point bullet with a boat-tail design that cuts through wind and maintains energy downrange. The result is a well-balanced cartridge that handles everything from moderate ranges to extended shots where precision counts.
The 174-grain weight sits right in the sweet spot for the 7mm Rem Mag, offering plenty of knockdown power while keeping your rifle reasonably controllable. That boat-tail rear end does real work, reducing drag and improving your ballistic coefficient so your bullet arrives flatter and more predictable than standard soft points. The pointed profile combined with the boat-tail means better long-range accuracy without constantly adjusting your holdover.
This pointed soft point expands predictably on impact, delivering deep penetration and controlled expansion that's designed for ethical kills on medium to large game. The brass casing is built to reload standards, so if you take your shooting seriously enough to reload, these cases hold up through multiple firing cycles. Each round comes primed and ready to go with a non-corrosive Boxer primer, so your rifle stays clean between sessions.
PPU has been making ammunition since 1928 in Serbia, and they supply military and law enforcement forces worldwide. That history means they've refined their manufacturing process over nearly a century. Every cartridge uses quality components and consistent propellants, so you get the same ballistic performance shot after shot. The factory-rated muzzle velocity is 2770 fps with 2964 foot-pounds of energy, delivering the power and trajectory you need for serious hunting situations.
The 174-grain pointed soft point boat-tail handles medium to large game effectively, including deer, elk, moose, and bear. The boat-tail design maintains velocity and trajectory well at extended ranges, making it a solid choice for hunters who may need to take shots beyond typical hunting distances.
Yes. PPU uses quality brass cases with Boxer primers that hold up well through multiple reloading cycles. Many shooters favor PPU brass for its durability and consistency, making it a cost-effective option if you handload your own ammunition.
The boat-tail rear end improves your ballistic coefficient and reduces wind drift compared to round-nosed designs. This means flatter trajectories and less holdover adjustment needed at distance, translating directly to better accuracy when every shot matters.
PPU has supplied military and law enforcement worldwide since 1928, so their manufacturing standards are proven. The ammo shoots consistently thanks to quality components and controlled propellants, making it reliable for hunting situations where you need your ammunition to perform the same way every time.
