Most AR-15s in this class leave you a to-do list. Swap the trigger, upgrade the charging handle, ditch the plastic furniture. The POF Wonder skips all that. Patriot Ordnance Factory built this direct impingement carbine with the upgrades already installed, then wrapped the receiver set and handguard in a Blue Titanium Cerakote finish that stands out on any rack. At 6.17 pounds with a 32 inch collapsed length, it carries easy and swings fast whether you are running drills or just enjoying a Saturday at the range.
The heart of the rifle is a 16.5 inch match grade Puritan barrel, nitride heat treated for corrosion resistance and long service life, with a 1:8 twist that stabilizes everything from 55 grain plinking loads to heavier match bullets. POF's patented E2 dual extraction technology cuts four small channels into the chamber walls, letting a bit of gas pressure push against the spent case for smoother, more reliable extraction. Up front, the Micro-B single port muzzle brake tames what little recoil 5.56 produces, and the muzzle is threaded 1/2×28 if you want to run your own device. The drop-in flat trigger breaks at a crisp 3.5 pounds and comes secured with a KNS anti-walk pin kit, a detail most factory rifles skip.
Controls are where the Wonder really earns its keep. You get an ambidextrous safety selector, POF's Strike Eagle ambidextrous charging handle, and an ambi QD endplate, so lefties are not fighting the rifle. The 14.5 inch M-LOK Renegade free float rail features POF's heat sink barrel nut to pull heat away from the chamber during long strings, and it gives you plenty of real estate for lights and accessories. A Mission First Tactical collapsible stock and Ergo SureGrip round out the furniture, and the anti-tilt buffer tube with carrier cradle extensions keeps the bolt carrier supported through every cycle. The flat top is optics ready, so mount your red dot or LPVO and get to work. One 30 round MFT magazine ships in the box.
No, the Wonder ships optics ready with a flat top upper and no iron sights. The full length top rail gives you plenty of room for a red dot, LPVO, or magnifier combo. Buyers commonly pair it with a red dot or 1-10x scope and report quick, easy zeroing.
E2 is a patented POF design that machines four small channels into the chamber walls. A little gas pressure pushes against the neck of the spent case during extraction, which takes strain off the extractor and helps the rifle run smoothly even when dirty or with budget steel cased ammo. It is one of the features that separates POF rifles from standard mil-spec builds.
It is one of the better options out there for southpaws. The rifle includes an ambidextrous safety selector, POF's Strike Eagle ambidextrous charging handle, and an ambi QD sling endplate. You can run it comfortably from either shoulder without hunting for controls.
Not at all, and that is a big part of the appeal. It comes from the factory with POF's drop-in flat trigger breaking at a crisp 3.5 pounds, held in place with a KNS anti-walk pin kit. It is a genuine match style trigger that most people would otherwise spend good money adding to a rifle.
