When POF-USA set out to build a direct impingement AR, they refused to make another cookie-cutter carbine, and the Renegade+ shows it. This version runs a 13.75 inch black nitride heat treated barrel in 4150 CrMoV steel with a 1:8 twist and 5R rifling, capped with a Dead Air KeyMo muzzle brake that is pinned and welded to bring the barrel to 16.1 inches overall. The result is a rifle that handles like a shorter gun but keeps things simple, and the KeyMo brake does real work taming muzzle rise while doubling as a mount for Dead Air suppressors down the road.
The heart of this rifle is the Dictator 9-position adjustable gas block on a mid-length system with a straight gas tube. Whether you are running it suppressed, shooting light practice loads, or just want it to cycle as soft as possible, you can dial the gas to match. POF pairs that with their patented heat sink barrel nut, which wraps the chamber area to pull heat away during longer strings, and their Keylock bolt carrier group with a roller cam pin that cuts friction inside the receiver. It all adds up to a DI gun that runs smoother and cooler than a standard build.
The Gen 4 billet lower is fully ambidextrous, and the ambi Tomahawk charging handle rounds out the controls so lefties are not left fumbling. Inside sits POF's flat-faced 3.5 lb single-stage drop-in trigger with KNS Precision anti-walk pins, a trigger most folks pay good money to add to lesser rifles. A Mission First Tactical Minimalist stock and Engage V2 grip keep weight down, while the slim 13 inch Renegade M-LOK rail leaves plenty of room for lights and accessories.
The Burnt Bronze Cerakote finish sets this one apart on the rack and holds up well to real use. It ships with one 30 round MFT magazine, and the flat-top receiver leaves optic choice up to you since no sights are included.
