The charging handle, bolt carrier, cam pin, buffer, and handguard all come from the 5.56 world, which shrinks the receiver and drops the weight to roughly 7.3 pounds. Pick it up and it handles like the carbine you already know, except it hits with twice the muscle downrange.
POF's short-stroke gas piston system keeps hot gas and carbon out of the receiver, so the action stays cooler and cleaner shot after shot. A 5-position adjustable gas block lets you tune the rifle for suppressed shooting or picky ammo, and the gas plug pulls out for cleaning without touching the handguard or grabbing a single tool. The NP3 coated bolt carrier group and chrome-plated bolt wipe down easily, while the E2 dual extraction chamber gives spent brass an extra push on the way out for reliable cycling.
The 16.5 inch match-grade barrel gets a nitride heat treatment for long-term durability, spins bullets on a 1:10 twist, and wears 5/8×24 threads behind POF's triple-port muzzle brake, which does a genuinely impressive job of flattening out .308 recoil. Behind it sits POF's 4.5 pound single-stage drop-in trigger secured with KNS anti-walk pins, a trigger most folks would pay real money to add to another rifle. It comes standard here.
The Gen4 billet lower is fully ambidextrous, with the safety, bolt release, bolt catch, and magazine release mirrored on both sides. Mission First Tactical furniture, including the Minimalist stock on a 7-position anti-tilt buffer tube, keeps things light and comfortable, and the 14.5 inch M-LOK MRR free-float handguard gives you plenty of room for lights, bipods, and hand position. Top the optic-ready flat top with glass and you have a do-it-all .308 that works for hogs, deer, defense, or steel at distance.

It is set up well for it. The barrel has standard 5/8×24 muzzle threads, so the factory brake comes off and most .30 caliber suppressors thread right on. The 5-position adjustable gas block lets you dial the gas down to keep the rifle running smoothly and comfortably when suppressed.
No, it ships optic ready with a flat top rail and no iron sights. The full-length top rail and 14.5 inch M-LOK handguard give you plenty of real estate for a scope, red dot, or backup irons. Most owners pair it with an LPVO or a mid-power scope to take advantage of the match-grade barrel.
Maintenance is one of the easier parts of owning this rifle. The gas plug removes by hand so you can clean the gas block and piston components without pulling the handguard, and no tools are needed. The piston design also keeps carbon out of the receiver, and the NP3 coated carrier wipes clean fast.
