The 340 Weatherby Magnum is a serious big-bore magnum, and it deserves brass that can keep up. Peterson Cartridge delivers exactly that with unprimed 340 Weatherby cases built to match-grade standards in Pittsburgh, PA. Peterson added the caliber to its lineup back in 2022, and the cases carry all the same attention to detail the company is known for. Each case starts as C260 cartridge brass and runs through a controlled forming, annealing, trimming, flash-hole, and cleaning process, with quality checks on weight, length, concentricity, neck dimensions, primer pockets, and flash holes along the way.
This is unprimed brass with a large rifle primer pocket, giving you full control over your primer choice and powder charge. The 340 Weatherby runs on the same .338 diameter bullets as the .338 Winchester Magnum but drives them noticeably faster, which makes it a flat-shooting, hard-hitting option for elk, moose, bear, and plains game. Having brass you can trust is a big part of getting the most out of a cartridge like this.
Peterson sizes its primer pockets so they settle toward the bottom of spec after the first firing, which is one of the reasons these cases tend to deliver more reloads per casing than the industry average. The pockets run tight out of the box, and that's by design. Flash holes are centered and processed to stay clean, case mouths come chamfered, and the trademark reanneal line on the neck reflects the stress-relief step that helps keep neck tension consistent from case to case.
