Patriot Ordnance Factory built its name on piston guns, so when they set out to build a direct impingement carbine, they didn't just slap their logo on a parts-bin AR. The Minuteman P-15 carries over the details that make POF rifles stand out: billet aluminum upper and lower receivers, a patented roller cam pin in the bolt carrier group for smoother cycling, and their E2 dual-extraction system, which uses four small channels cut into the chamber walls to let a bit of gas pressure push against the case neck and assist extraction. It's the kind of engineering you feel over thousands of rounds, not just on the spec sheet. This version wears Patriot Brown receivers over black furniture, and it looks as sharp in person as it does in photos.
The 16.5 inch barrel is machined from 4150 CrMoV steel with 5R rifling, a 1:8 twist, and a black nitride heat treatment for hardness and corrosion resistance. The muzzle is threaded 1/2×28 and capped with POF's three-prong flash hider. A mid-length gas system with a low-profile nitrided gas block smooths out the recoil impulse compared to carbine-length setups, and owners consistently report tight groups with this barrel. Up top and down the sides, the 14.5 inch Renegade M-LOK rail free-floats the barrel and mounts to an oversized heat sink barrel nut, with QD sockets built in for sling options.
POF didn't skimp where your hands actually go. You get an ambidextrous safety selector, the ambi Strike Eagle charging handle, an oversized trigger guard, and a QD end plate at the receiver extension. The trigger is a single-stage, straight-shoe drop-in unit breaking at a crisp 3.5 pounds, held in place with anti-walk pins. A Mission First Tactical Minimalist stock rides on POF's anti-tilt buffer tube, which uses carrier cradle extensions to support the bolt carrier even when it's fully forward.
At roughly six pounds and 34 inches collapsed, the Minuteman is easy to carry, quick to shoulder, and ready for an optic the day you bring it home. It ships with one 30-round Magpul PMAG, so all that's left is glass and ammo.
E2 is POF's patented chamber design that uses four small channels cut into the chamber walls. A small amount of gas pressure pushes against the neck of the spent case during extraction, which takes stress off the extractor and helps the action run smoothly during rapid fire. It also extends extractor life since the extractor isn't doing all the work on its own.
No, this rifle ships optic-ready with a full-length Picatinny rail up top but no iron sights installed. That's a plus for most buyers since you can mount a red dot, LPVO, or backup irons without paying for sights you'd swap out anyway. The 12 o'clock rail runs the length of the 14.5 inch handguard, so you have plenty of real estate.
