Description

The Primary Arms PLxC 1.5-12×36 FFP RDB is a rare bird among rifle scopes. It gives you nearly true 1x on the low end for both-eyes-open speed, then climbs all the way to 12x when you need to reach out and touch something at distance. That kind of range means one optic can cover close-quarters work and midrange precision without you swapping glass every time the shooting changes. Built in Japan around extra-low dispersion glass, the image comes through flat, bright, and clean edge to edge with excellent color, and the 36mm objective pulls in enough light to keep you working as the sun drops.

What the ACSS Griffin MIL G2 Brings to the PLxC 1.5-12×36

The reticle is where this scope earns its keep. The Griffin MIL G2 is a full MRAD grid built around Primary Arms' signature horseshoe and center chevron. At 1x the illuminated aiming point works at red-dot speed for fast target acquisition, and as you crank up the magnification the full MIL grid comes into view for elevation holds, wind calls, and ranging. Because it sits in the first focal plane, every subtension stays accurate at any power, so you never have to do math on the fly. There's built-in BDC calibrated for 5.56, .308, 6.5 Grendel, and similar loads.

Compact Build and Everyday Toughness of the PLxC 1.5-12×36 FFP RDB

At 9.75 inches and just under 20 ounces on a 30mm tube, this thing is short and light for the magnification range it delivers. The Red Dot Bright diffractive reticle technology gives you daylight-visible brightness without eating through batteries, and AutoLive motion sensing shuts the illumination off when the rifle sits still, then wakes it back up the moment you move. The elevation turret is a user-configurable Steel-On-Steel setup you can run capped or exposed depending on how you like to work, and the magnification throw lever is UML compatible. It's waterproof, fog resistant, tested for hard recoil, and backed by Primary Arms' lifetime warranty that even covers normal wear.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of shooting is the PLxC 1.5-12×36 best suited for?

This scope is built to do a little of everything. The near-1x low end lets you run a carbine fast and both-eyes-open in close quarters, while the 12x top end pushes into DMR and midrange precision territory. That versatility is the whole point of the design, making it a solid single optic for a fighting rifle, a range gun, or hunting setup that needs to cover a wide span of distances.

Is the reticle on the Primary Arms PLxC 1.5-12×36 first focal plane?

Yes, the ACSS Griffin MIL G2 sits in the first focal plane, so it grows and shrinks with your magnification. That means every MIL subtension, holdover, and ranging mark stays accurate at any power from 1.5x to 12x. You get correct holds without converting values or doing math in your head.

How does the illumination work on this scope?

The PLxC uses Primary Arms' Red Dot Bright diffractive reticle technology, which delivers a genuinely daylight-visible center aiming point while sipping battery power. It also pairs with AutoLive motion sensing, which shuts the illumination off when the rifle sits idle and turns it back on the instant it detects movement. There are 10 brightness settings to dial in for conditions from bright sun to low light.

Which cartridges does the Griffin MIL G2 reticle work with?

The Griffin MIL G2 has built-in bullet drop compensation calibrated for common loads like 5.56 NATO, .308 Win, and 6.5 Grendel, among others. Because it is a full MIL grid, you can also use it with just about any cartridge by adjusting your zero to line the trajectory up with the stadia. Primary Arms recommends a 50-yard zero for 5.56 and a 40 or 200-yard zero for .308 to get the most out of the holds.
