The One Horse OH-HG03 is a 7-inch M-LOK handguard made for AR-15 platforms where a shorter, lighter rail makes all the difference. At this length, it keeps the front end trim and easy to maneuver, which is exactly what you want on a pistol build, an SBR, or a compact carbine that spends time in tight spaces. You still get plenty of real estate for lights, grips, hand stops, and bipods thanks to the M-LOK slots running along the sides and the Picatinny top rail up front.
Short handguards like this trim weight off the muzzle end, and that pays off in how the rifle points and swings. The 7-inch length pairs naturally with carbine-length and pistol-length setups, and it clears low-profile gas blocks so your gas system stays tucked under the rail. Because it is a free-float design, the handguard mounts to the barrel nut rather than clamping on the barrel itself, which keeps pressure off the barrel and helps your groups stay consistent. The continuous top rail gives you a straight line for iron sights or an optic if you want to run backups out front.
M-LOK is the standard most accessory makers build around now, so you are not locked into any one brand. Slots at multiple positions let you set up a light on one side and a grip or hand stop wherever it feels right for your hands. The slim outer profile is comfortable to grip bare-handed and leaves room for a solid firing grip up close.
One Horse builds this rail as part of their AR-15 parts and upper lineup, so it fits right in with the rest of a standard Mil-Spec build. If you are assembling a short-barreled setup from the ground up or swapping a bulky factory handguard for something leaner, the OH-HG03 is a practical, no-nonsense way to get there.
The 7-inch length is a natural fit for AR-15 pistol builds, SBRs, and compact carbines where you want a short, light front end. It works well with carbine-length and pistol-length gas systems. If you are chasing a trim, maneuverable setup for close-quarters handling or general range use, this length hits the mark.
Yes, slim free-float rails in this class are designed to slip over a low-profile gas block so the gas system stays tucked under the handguard. You will want to run a low-profile gas block rather than a full-height front sight base. Just confirm your gas block height and barrel profile before install.
Absolutely. The M-LOK slots along the sides accept the huge range of M-LOK accessories on the market, from weapon lights and pressure switches to grips, hand stops, and bipods. The Picatinny top rail up front also gives you a spot for backup iron sights or a forward optic.
Yes. It mounts to the barrel nut instead of clamping onto the barrel, so nothing but the receiver and barrel nut touches the barrel. That keeps outside pressure off the barrel, which helps your rifle hold a more consistent point of impact.
