This One Horse HBAR complete upper takes the guesswork out of finishing a build or breathing new life into a rifle that needs a change. It shows up fully assembled with the barrel, handguard, bolt carrier group, and charging handle all installed, so all you do is pin it onto a mil-spec AR-15 lower and head to the range. It is chambered in 5.56 NATO, which means it happily runs both 5.56 and .223 Remington, giving you plenty of flexibility on what you feed it.

What the 16" HBAR Barrel Brings to the Table

The heart of this upper is the 16-inch heavy barrel built from 4150 steel with a 1:8 twist and a mid-length gas system. That heavier HBAR profile holds up well during longer strings of fire and helps keep your groups honest as the barrel heats up. The 1:8 twist is a sweet spot for 5.56, stabilizing everything from lighter 55-grain plinking loads up through heavier 77-grain match ammo without fuss. The mid-length gas system is a nice touch too, giving you a softer, smoother recoil impulse than a carbine-length setup and easing wear on the internals over time. The muzzle is threaded 1/2×28, so a flash hider, brake, or suppressor mount screws right on.

Setting Up the One Horse M-LOK Handguard

Out front you get a 15-inch M-LOK free-float handguard that leaves the barrel untouched for better consistency and gives you room to run. M-LOK slots along the length mean you can mount lights, a hand stop, a bipod, sling points, or whatever your setup calls for, right where your hands want them. Up top, the full-length Picatinny rail runs flush so mounting an optic, backup irons, or a red dot is straightforward.
