Olight built the PL-3R Valkyrie to be the light you don't have to think about. It puts out a maximum of 1,500 lumens with a beam reaching 205 meters, which is enough punch to light up a backyard, a hallway, or well past what most people will ever need in a defensive situation. That's roughly a 15 percent bump over the older PL-3, and it comes from an internal 900mAh lithium polymer battery that charges without ever leaving the rail.
Instead of a single flood, the Valkyrie gives you real options. Two top modes let you choose between High 1 at 1,500 lumens and High 2 at 1,000 lumens, and there's a 300-lumen low setting for close work where you don't want to blind yourself off reflective surfaces. You can even reprogram which high mode is your default, so the light behaves the way you want it to. Dual ambidextrous switches handle momentary and constant-on, and pressing both at once kicks over to a strobe.
The front-to-back sliding key-block is the real upgrade here. It slides to find the sweet spot on your rail, then a large glove-friendly locking screw clamps it down tight enough to shrug off recoil. Olight includes both a GL adapter for pistol-style rails and a 1913 Picatinny adapter, so the same light works on a carry gun or a carbine. On longer builds, the magnetic charging port doubles as a connection for the optional sRPL-7 remote pressure switch.
The body is anodized aluminum rated IPX6, meaning rain, dust, and rough handling aren't going to sideline it. At about 3.77 ounces with the battery installed and just over 3 inches long, it stays compact and won't throw off the balance of a pistol. Holster support is solid too, with fitment from makers like Alien Gear, Werkz, and Red Hill Tactical.
