Description

The Odin Works Ragna 15.5 in M-LOK forend is one of the lighter free-float handguards you'll find at this length, and the second you pick one up it's hard to believe there's a full 15.5 inches of rail in your hand. Odin pulled that weight out with a run of organic-shaped lightening cuts down the length of the tube, which also give it a look that stands apart from the sea of slotted rails out there. Machined from 6061-T6 aluminum with a Type 2 hard anodized finish, it holds up to wear and shrugs off corrosion while staying slim enough for a natural grip.

What Sets the Ragna Forend Apart

The headliner here is the install. Instead of the usual shim-and-clock dance, the Ragna uses a one-piece, black nitride coated barrel nut. You torque the nut down to spec, run your gas block and tube, slide the forend over, line up the top rail with your receiver, and lock it in place with the set screws and three clamp screws. If you've ever mounted a barrel on an AR, you already have the skills for this one. Worth noting is that you'll want a 1 3/16 inch crowfoot wrench to torque the barrel nut, which isn't included in the box.

Mounting Room on the Ragna 15.5

M-LOK slots sit at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions up front, giving you real estate for a light, laser, or foregrip right where you reach for it. There are also multiple QD sling swivel mounting points along the sides and bottom so you can set up a sling to match how you carry. The full-length Picatinny top rail sits flush with a flat-top upper, keeping your optics and back-up irons in one continuous line.

The 1.35 inch inside diameter clears most standard AR-15 gas blocks and fits all Odin .750 blocks. That extra length makes it a natural fit for a 16 inch competition or 3-gun rifle where a full arm extension and a stable hold pay off, though it's just as at home on a general-purpose build or a range gun.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need special tools to install the Ragna forend?

You'll need a 1 3/16 inch crowfoot wrench to torque the one-piece barrel nut down to around 40 to 50 ft-lbs, and that wrench is not included in the box. Beyond that, the included Allen wrenches handle the set screws and clamp screws. If you've installed a barrel on an AR before, the rest of the process is straightforward.

Will the Ragna handguard fit my gas block?

The forend has a 1.35 inch inside diameter, which clears most standard AR-15 gas blocks and fits all Odin Works .750 gas blocks. Low-profile blocks are your best bet for a clean fit. Larger adjustable or clamp-on blocks may not clear, so measure before you build.

How does the one-piece barrel nut make install easier?

Traditional free-float rails often require shims or clocking to line up the top rail with your receiver, which can turn into a frustrating trial-and-error process. The Ragna skips that entirely with a one-piece barrel nut, so you torque it to spec, slide the forend on, and lock it down. It's one of the quicker free-float systems to get running.

Is the Ragna 15.5 M-LOK forend actually free-floating?

Yes. The handguard mounts to the barrel nut and does not contact the barrel, so it won't put pressure on it the way a two-piece drop-in setup does. That free-float design helps with consistency and accuracy, which is part of why the longer 15.5 inch length is popular on competition and precision-minded builds.
