The OA 2311 platform is what happens when someone asks the right question: what if you took 1911 trigger DNA, a modular grip built around SIG P320 magazines, and a linkless bushing-free barrel system, and actually engineered it from scratch to be a duty-worthy gun? That is exactly what OA Defense did, and the 2311 Pro full-size is the ported, cut-slide, dialed-in version of that idea. The 7075 aluminum serialized frame rides under a steel slide packed with aggressive lightening cuts and a matching optic cut, and the whole package tips the scale at just 28 oz unloaded.
The integral V-porting in the 5" barrel pairs with coordinated cutouts in the slide to vent gas upward before muzzle rise has a chance to happen. The lightened slide profile works with that to speed up the cycle, so you get a combination of flatter shooting and faster recovery rather than trading one for the other. Night Fision tritium night sights come installed standard, and four co-witnessing optic plates are included for RMR, DPP, and RMSc/Holosun K footprints, each with a rear iron sight built into the plate so you do not sacrifice your backup sights when a red dot goes on.
The trigger is an enhanced 3.5 to 4 lb single-action unit with a crisp break and short reset. A Springer Precision extended magazine release paddle is standard on the Pro models, which makes a noticeable difference during fast reloads. Controls are fully ambidextrous across the board: bilateral slide release, ambi thumb safety, and a reversible mag release. The grip module is modular polymer in black, designed with stippling in mind if you want to run it through a custom shop, and the Picatinny rail under the dust cover keeps light and laser options open.
This is the kit configuration, which means it ships with three 21-round and two 17-round Magpul AMAG magazines, the full set of optic plates, a custom OA Defense range bag, owner's manual, and cable safety lock. One of the real advantages of this platform is P320 magazine compatibility. Unlike traditional 2011-style magazines, P320 pattern mags are widely available, field-proven, and far more affordable to stock in quantity. Any P320 pattern magazine runs in the 2311 Pro, which matters when you are putting in serious round counts.
OA Defense builds these in North Carolina with hand-fitted and hand-finished engagement points, and each pistol goes through a multi-point inspection and test fire before it leaves the facility.
The 2311 Pro is built around SIG P320 pattern magazines, and any P320 compatible magazine will work in it. The kit ships with three 21-round and two 17-round Magpul AMAG magazines. The big practical upside here is that P320 mags are widely available and significantly more affordable than traditional double-stack 1911 magazines, which matters when you are stocking up for training or competition.
The slide is machined with OA's proprietary optic plate system, and the kit includes four co-witnessing plates covering RMR, DPP, and Holosun K/RMSc footprints, plus an iron sight cover plate. Each plate has a rear iron sight built in so you keep a backup sighting system even with a red dot mounted. Additional plates for ACRO and SRO footprints are available separately.
The V-porting in the barrel and slide works in tandem to redirect gas upward, which meaningfully reduces muzzle rise and helps get the sights back on target faster for follow-up shots. The porting is designed to split gas around the sight line rather than directly into it, and owner feedback on this platform consistently notes that the gases do not interfere with the sight picture during normal shooting. If you put in high round counts or shoot with lights in low light, it is worth being aware of as with any ported firearm.
The OA 2311 uses a 7075 aluminum serialized frame with a modular polymer grip module, similar in concept to a 2011 but engineered to run P320 pattern magazines natively rather than traditional double-stack 1911 mags. It also does away with the barrel bushing and swinging link in favor of a linkless, bushing-free lockup, and it adds a bilateral slide release that standard 2011s do not have. The fire control group, including the hammer, sear, and disconnector, is compatible with Series 70 1911 parts, so any competent 1911 gunsmith can work on it.
No, the 2311 Pro does not have a grip safety. OA Defense eliminated it and sealed that section of the frame, which simplifies the manual of arms compared to a traditional 1911. The pistol uses an ambidextrous thumb safety and has been third-party drop-test certified for duty use, so it is not simply an omission without engineering consideration behind it.
OA Defense-specific holsters are available from Dara Holsters, QVO Tactical, GunfightersINC, TACRIG, TXC Holsters, and Smith Concealment. For duty retention, G-Code and US Duty Gear offer Level II options, and Safariland makes a Level III holster for this platform. Universal light-bearing holsters including the Tier 1 Concealed MSP, Blackhawk Omnivore, and PHLster Floodlight2 are also confirmed to fit.
