The Nightstick UVR-588XL is built for people who do detection and inspection work and want one tool that covers both jobs. It runs a 370nm ultraviolet LED for fluorescing everything from HVAC leak dye and pet stains to scorpions and evidence, then a separate white flood LED when you just need to see. Independent switches mean the tail button drives the UV source while the side switch handles the white flood, and you can fire both at once when the situation calls for it.
The UV LED is rated at 37 mW/cm2 on high with roughly 14 hours of runtime, and dropping to low stretches that closer to 40 hours while sipping the battery. Total UV output lands at 1250mW, which is plenty of energy to make fluorescent material pop in a darkened room. On the white side you get a 385-lumen flood that runs about 5 hours per charge, giving you a soft, wide wash of light for close inspection instead of a tight blinding hotspot.
Nightstick machined the body from aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminum and finished it with a Type III hard anodized coating, so it shrugs off scuffs, chemicals, and heat. It carries an IP-X7 waterproof rating and is impact and chemical resistant, which matters when you're working in mechanical rooms, crawlspaces, or out in the weather. Each light is serialized for personal identification, a nice touch for shops and agencies tracking gear.
Charging is refreshingly simple. Twist the discreet sleeve below the head to reveal the USB-C port, plug in the included cable, and the indicator glows red then switches to green once it's topped off. If your battery ever dies mid-job and you can't get to a charger, the included carrier lets you run two CR123A cells so you're never stuck in the dark.
The 370nm ultraviolet LED makes fluorescent materials light up, so it's handy for spotting HVAC and automotive leak dyes, pet stains, bodily fluids, minerals, and even scorpions in the dark. The higher the UV energy, the better things fluoresce, and with 1250mW of total output this one has plenty to work with. For best results you'll want a dim or dark environment.
Yes. Alongside the UV source there's a separate 385-lumen white flood LED that gives you a wide, even wash of light for general visibility and close inspection. You can run the UV and white flood independently or together, since each has its own switch.
