If you've ever touched off an AR pistol or SBR indoors or on a crowded firing line, you know the problem the Noveske KX3 was built to solve. Short barrels concentrate a nasty amount of blast and concussion right back at you and everyone standing nearby. The KX3, better known as the "Flaming Pig," takes that gas and pushes it forward toward the target instead of letting it vent out the sides, so the guy in the next lane isn't cursing your name after every string.
This is a cone-style muzzle device with a two-part design that actually comes apart for cleaning, which is handy after long sessions. By trapping gas and directing it forward, the KX3 also bumps up back pressure in the system. On a pistol-length gas setup that extra dwell can be the difference between a gun that runs and one that short-strokes, helping cut down on failures to eject and feed. The Bureau classifies it as a flash suppressor, but in practice it behaves like a blast diverter, taming muzzle rise and softening felt recoil along the way.
Machined from heat-treated chromoly and finished in black nitride for corrosion resistance, the KX3 is made to shrug off thousands of rounds of heat and pressure. Every unit is individually serial numbered for quality control and made in Grants Pass, Oregon. It measures 3.28 inches long, 1.35 inches in diameter, and weighs in around 7 ounces, so it carries some heft that fits the aggressive look and the job it does.
This version is threaded 1/2×28 for 5.56 NATO and .223 Rem barrels, and it ships with a crush washer so you can time it correctly during install. It works on any barrel length, but it truly earns its keep on short-barreled builds and AR pistols where that forward blast redirection makes the gun a whole lot more pleasant to run.
The KX3 traps muzzle gas and directs it forward toward the target instead of venting to the sides. It is not a sound suppressor, so it will not make the gun quieter overall. From behind the trigger it can feel noticeably tamer since the blast is thrown downrange, but always wear hearing protection. The person standing next to you gets far less side blast, which is one of the main reasons folks buy it for range and indoor use.
