No, this model (NAA-22M-GP-B) is chambered for .22 Magnum only and should not be run with .22 LR. If you want both calibers in one gun, NAA makes a convertible version, the NAA-22MC, that ships with a separate .22 LR conversion cylinder. It does handle any standard .22 Magnum load, including shotshell snake loads.
Yes. NAA machines half-notch safety slots into the cylinder between the chambers, so you can rest the hammer in a notch with the firing pin sitting safely off any cartridge. That means you get all five rounds on board without the empty-chamber compromise older single actions required. Just make it a habit to lower the hammer into the notch every time you load.
This is a classic removable-cylinder design. You pull the cylinder pin from the front of the frame, tip the cylinder out of the frame, load your rounds directly into the chambers, then reinstall everything. The cylinder pin doubles as an ejector for pushing out spent cases. It is slower than a swing-out cylinder, but it keeps the gun incredibly small and simple.
The 1 5/8 inch barrel on this model gives you a slightly longer sight radius and squeezes a bit more velocity out of the .22 Magnum cartridge compared to the shorter 1 1/8 inch version. The trade-off is about half an inch of overall length, which still leaves the gun right around five inches total. Most people find the longer barrel a little easier to shoot well with no real penalty in concealment.
