If you tried to use a standard +2 Nordic extension on the 1301 Tactical, it would extend roughly half an inch past the barrel, which is why Nordic made this exclusive tube for this kit.
Your factory 1301 magazine spring works fine with this extension, so you don't have to replace it. The spare generic spring that comes in the box is there if you want it or need a backup, but it's not required for proper function.
This kit is built for the 1301 Tactical Gen 1 and Gen 2, plus some A300 models that came with a factory 5-round capacity tube. It won't work with 1301 Competition or Patrol models with different barrel profiles, and it's not compatible with the newer Gen 3 1301 Tactical due to differences in the receiver design.
Installation is straightforward and doesn't require gunsmithing or special tools. Most people finish the job in under 10 minutes using basic hand tools. The extension simply clamps onto your existing magazine tube, and the barrel clamp bolts on without any permanent modifications to your shotgun.
