Stock Glock sights are famous for one thing: getting replaced. This Night Fision Perfect Dot set is one of the better swaps you can make, pairing a bright orange front ring with a clean black square-notch rear so your eye goes straight to the front dot where it belongs. During the day, that orange outline pops against most targets and backgrounds, and once the light drops, the Swiss tritium vials take over with a crisp green glow.
Most tritium sights use aluminum sleeves with painted-on white rings. Night Fision took a different route with a patented injection-molded polymer sleeve that locks the tritium vial in place and forms the Perfect Dot ring itself, which holds up better and reads brighter than paint. The front sight uses a domed lens that focuses the tritium into a defined dot rather than a fuzzy blob, so your sight picture stays sharp in the dark. Night Fision leans on decades of tritium experience through its sister company that builds the U.S. Army's tritium lensatic compass, and it shows in how bright these things run.
The sight bodies are CNC machined from 4140 steel and finished in black nitride to fight off wear and corrosion, so they can take the abuse of everyday carry and range time. The tritium is imported from Switzerland while the sights are built in the USA. Like all tritium, the glow slowly fades over roughly a 12-year span as the gas decays, but you get years of dependable low-light performance out of a set.
This set covers a wide range of Glock models, including the 17, 17L, 19, 22-28, 31-35, and 37-39. The front sight comes off with a 3/16 nut driver, and the rear drops into the dovetail with a punch or a sight pusher. Plenty of folks install these at home, though a gunsmith or sight pusher makes the rear go smoothly. Either way, confirm your zero at 10 to 15 yards before you carry.
This set is built for a wide swath of the Glock lineup, including the 17, 17L, 19, 22 through 28, 31 through 35, and 37 through 39. That covers most standard-frame 9mm, .40, .357 SIG, and .45 GAP Glocks. It does not fit the slimline 42, 43, and 43X or the large-frame 20/21 series, which use different sights.
Plenty of owners do it at home. The front sight comes off and goes on with a 3/16 nut driver, and the rear seats in the dovetail using a punch or, better yet, a sight pusher tool. If you are not comfortable driving the rear sight, a gunsmith can knock it out in a few minutes, and either way you should confirm zero afterward.
Tritium glows on its own without any charging, and it dims gradually over time as the gas decays. Expect a useful service life in the neighborhood of 12 years, with brightness slowly tapering along the way. Night Fision packs more tritium into their sights than a lot of competitors, so they tend to start out noticeably bright.
The idea is to keep your focus where it counts. The orange front ring grabs your eye fast in daylight, while the plain black rear gives you a clean notch that does not compete for attention. It is a popular setup for carry and defensive use because it speeds up front-sight focus without the clutter of extra dots.
