Most large frame .308s feel like you're lugging around a boat anchor with a trigger. The NEMO XO Steel is a different animal. At 8.2 pounds and just over 34 inches long with the stock collapsed, this 16 inch carbine handles more like a well built AR-15 than a typical .308, and the build sheet reads like a custom shop order. The barrel starts as a Bartlein blank in 416 stainless, then gets machined in house by NEMO to their own chambering and profile with a 1:8 twist. Feed it good ammo behind quality glass and sub-MOA groups are the expectation, not the exception.
The part that surprises people at the range is how soft this thing runs. NEMO's patented recoil reduction bolt carrier was an industry first, and paired with the tuned steel faced buffer, chrome silicon spring, and titanium DC-1 dual chamber brake, the XO recoils closer to a 5.56 carbine than a .308. Follow up shots come back on target fast. The Geissele Super Dynamic Enhanced two stage trigger seals the deal, giving you a crisp, flat faced break that matches the accuracy the barrel can deliver.
Running a can? The two position adjustable gas block has dedicated suppressed and unsuppressed settings, so you can dial back pressure without tools or guesswork on the mid length gas system. The bolt is 9310 steel, heat treated, cryo'd, shot peened, MPI tested, and nickel boron coated, with an IONBOND coated tool steel extractor. Titanium takedown and pivot pins shave weight where it counts.
The billet 7075-T6 receiver set is fully ambidextrous, from the safety selector to the charging handle, and it wears a clean Tungsten Cerakote finish. A 15 inch M-LOK rail with rotation limited QD mounts, Magpul CTR stock, and MIAD grip round out a rifle that is equally at home in tight quarters, on a hunt, or stretched out at distance. It ships with a 20 round Gen3 PMAG and a build quality you can feel the first time you rack the charging handle.
