There are plenty of 8 inch AR pistols out there, but not many built like this one. NEMO Arms machines the Battle-Light from a matched billet 7075-T6 upper and lower set, finishes it in Burnt Bronze Cerakote, and then loads it with details you usually have to add yourself. Titanium takedown and pivot pins, a Nickel Boron coated bolt carrier group with a Carpenter 158 bolt, and a tuned pistol-length gas port all come standard. At just 5.6 pounds unloaded and 26.5 inches with the SB Tactical SBA3 brace collapsed, it stows in a pack or truck bag without a second thought.
The 8 inch 4150 CrMoV barrel runs 5R rifling with a 1:7 twist, so it stabilizes heavier 5.56 loads and shoots tighter than a barrel this short has any right to. Short 5.56 guns are loud, and NEMO knows it, which is why the threaded muzzle wears a blast-deflecting flash can that pushes concussion and flash forward instead of back at you and the guy in the next lane. The free-float M-LOK handguard has a generous 1.83 inch internal diameter, big enough to slip over most suppressors on the market, plus rotation-limited QD sling mounts built in.
Everything you touch on this gun is ambidextrous: safety selector, charging handle, and magazine release. Pair that with a crisp single-stage flat trigger and a Magpul MOE grip and the Battle-Light runs fast whether you shoot right or left handed, or need to work it from your support side. The full-length Picatinny top rail gives you room for a red dot, backup irons, or whatever optic setup you prefer.

Yes. The Battle-Light is chambered in 5.56 NATO, which safely handles both full-pressure 5.56 loads and .223 Remington ammunition. The 1:7 twist barrel favors heavier bullets in the 62 to 77 grain range, which is also where short-barrel 5.56 tends to perform best.

Any short-barreled 5.56 produces more blast than a 16 inch rifle, no way around the physics. NEMO fitted the Battle-Light with a blast-deflecting flash can that redirects concussion and flash forward and away from you, which makes a noticeable difference at the firing line. It is also a great candidate for a suppressor thanks to the oversized handguard.
