Yes. NAA machines halfway notches into the cylinder between each chamber. After loading, you lower the hammer into one of those notches so it rests securely away from any live round. That safety cylinder design lets you carry a full five rounds without worrying about the hammer sitting on a loaded chamber.
It handles all standard .22 Magnum ammunition, including .22 WMR shotshells, which makes it a handy snake gun for hikers, ranchers, and anglers. It is a dedicated .22 WMR cylinder, so stick with magnum rounds. If you want to shoot .22 LR too, NAA offers separate convertible models with a second cylinder.
Reloading is done by removing the cylinder pin and pulling the whole cylinder out of the frame, then loading each chamber individually. The cylinder pin doubles as an ejector to punch out spent cases. It takes a little practice, so it is worth running through the process a few times with an unloaded gun until it feels natural.
Recoil with .22 Magnum is snappy given the size, but most people find it entirely manageable and genuinely fun at the range. The checkered rubber grip on this model gives you noticeably more purchase than the traditional slick wood panels. Just remember it is single action only, so you cock the hammer for every shot.
