Muddy built the Trail Blazer as a no-nonsense carry sling for hunters who want their rifle riding comfortable without a bunch of bulk. The neoprene body flexes with the gun as you walk, which cuts down on that dead-weight drag you feel on the shoulder after a few miles of trail. It is a straightforward piece of gear that does its one job well.
The magic with a neoprene sling like this is how it spreads the load. Instead of a thin strap digging into one spot, the wider soft material distributes the weight of your rifle across the shoulder, and the little bit of give in the material takes the sting out of every step. Muddy backs it with a non-slip surface so the sling stays put on your coat or vest instead of sliding off mid-stalk. The rubber reinforcement points add durability right where the strap sees the most stress, so it holds up season after season.
The integrated quick-detach swivels are the part folks appreciate most. When you get to the stand or the truck and want the sling out of the way, you pop it loose in a second. Same story when you want it back on your rifle for the walk out. It is a nice touch on a sling at this price point, and it saves you from fumbling with hardware in the cold.
This one comes in a black and blaze orange combo, so it doubles as a bit of visibility in the timber. It is light enough that you forget it is there until you need it, which is exactly what you want out of a carry sling. If you are running a standard hunting rifle or a shotgun and want a comfortable strap that won't beat up your shoulder, the Trail Blazer is an easy call.
Yes, the Trail Blazer ships with integrated quick-detach swivels built right in. That means you can mount it and pull it off in seconds without hunting for extra hardware. It is one of the handier features on a sling in this class.
That is the whole idea behind it. The soft neoprene body flexes with the rifle and spreads the weight across your shoulder, so you feel less dead-weight drag on long treks. The little bit of stretch in the material takes the edge off each step.
Muddy put a non-slip backing on the Trail Blazer specifically to keep it planted. It grips your coat or vest so the sling stays where you set it instead of sliding down as you walk. It holds well over rough ground and while glassing or stalking.
Yes, as long as your shotgun is set up for standard sling swivels, the Trail Blazer works just fine. The QD swivels attach to typical swivel studs, so it fits most hunting rifles and shotguns. It is a versatile carry option for whatever you take to the field.
