Sabot slugs are the way to go in a fully rifled bore. The plastic sleeve grips the rifling and spins the projectile for noticeably tighter groups than rifled Foster slugs, which are really designed for smoothbores. With good sabots and a scope on the drilled and tapped receiver, this setup is capable well past 100 yards.
It takes about a minute and no tools. Unscrew the takedown knob at the end of the magazine tube, slide the barrel off, slide the other one on, and tighten the knob back down. It is one of the easiest barrel swaps in the shotgun world, which is exactly why these combo sets are so popular.
Yes, the receiver comes drilled and tapped from the factory, so you just need a standard Mossberg 500 scope base and rings. A low power scope or red dot pairs nicely with the rifled slug barrel.
