The 26 inch match contour barrel is an X-Caliber hand lapped 416R stainless blank, polished and threaded at the muzzle with a protector installed, so adding a brake or suppressor down the road is a five minute job.
The heart of this rifle is the MPA/Curtis action sitting in the aluminum BA Hybrid chassis, which uses MPA's V-bedding design to self-center the barreled action for repeatable, stress-free alignment. Absolutely. The 26 inch barrel comes threaded from the factory and ships with a thread protector installed, so it is ready for a brake or a suppressor whenever you are. MPA offers their own DN3 and DN5 brakes as popular add-ons for this platform.
The PMR feeds from AICS-pattern detachable box magazines and includes one 10 round mag in the box. Since AICS is the most common short action precision magazine pattern out there, spares from Magpul, MDT, Accurate Mag, and others are widely available and drop right in.
At around 12 pounds it is no mountain rifle, but that is by design. The weight soaks up recoil and keeps the reticle steady, and the PMR is lighter than MPA's Pro series rifles, so it works well for long range hunting from a blind, off a tripod, or over a pack. For stand hunting and open country shots at distance, plenty of folks run this rifle in the field.
