Description
The MAC 5K has been making waves since its debut, and the binary trigger version takes it up another notch. Military Armament Corporation built this pistol using original HK pattern tooling and specifications, which means the fit, feel, and manual of arms are going to be immediately familiar to anyone who has spent time behind an MP5K. The roller-delayed blowback action is smooth and controllable, and the 5.8-inch phosphate-finished barrel is threaded 1/2×28 TPI and ships with a tri-lug muzzle device that doubles as your suppressor mount. At 4.6 pounds unloaded with a 13.7-inch overall length, it handles like something much smaller than what it actually is on paper.
MAC 5K Binary Trigger: How the Franklin BFSIII HK-C1 Works
The Franklin Armory BFSIII HK-C1 is a three-position trigger pack. Position one is safe, position two is standard semi-auto, and position three is binary mode, where the pistol fires one round on the pull and a second round on the release. If you need to cancel the release round, you can simply rotate the selector out of binary mode while keeping the trigger held back. The trigger pull sits around 4.5 pounds regardless of which mode you are in, and the ambidextrous safety selector makes it easy to work from either side. This is a factory-installed unit, so there is nothing aftermarket or DIY about it.
MAC 5K Accessories and Optics Setup
The receiver finish on this model is Lauer lacquer over manganese phosphate, and the receiver itself has the built-in lug cuts for HK claw-style optic mounts. That means you can drop a red dot or magnified optic on it without any machining. The grip module is reinforced glass-filled polymer, the magazine release is the classic HK paddle style with a secondary button on the right side, and the charging handle is the familiar left-side forward position that MP5 fans will feel right at home with. The pistol is also compatible with standard MP5 and SP5K aftermarket furniture, so the customization options are genuinely deep.
It ships with two 30-round magazines, a sling with HK-style clips, a cleaning kit, and a padded hard case.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the binary trigger on the MAC 5K actually work?
The Franklin Armory BFSIII HK-C1 is a three-position trigger. In position two it functions as a standard semi-auto, firing once per pull. In position three, the binary mode, it fires one round on the pull and a second round on the release of the trigger. If you decide you do not want that second round to fire, you can cancel it by rotating the selector out of binary mode while keeping the trigger held rearward.
What magazines does the MAC 5K use?
The MAC 5K uses standard MP5-pattern magazines and ships with two 30-round mags from the factory. It is compatible with HK-branded MP5 magazines as well as most quality aftermarket MP5 mags on the market. That gives you a wide selection of options beyond what comes in the box.
Is the MAC 5K suppressor-ready?
Yes. The 5.8-inch barrel is threaded 1/2×28 TPI and the included tri-lug flash hider also serves as a suppressor mount for any can that uses the HK tri-lug attachment system. For thread-mount suppressors, you simply remove the flash hider and attach directly to the threaded barrel. Because the MAC 5K has a fixed barrel, you do not need a Nielsen device or booster when running a suppressor on it.
Can I add an optic to the MAC 5K?
The receiver has the built-in lug cuts required for HK claw-style optic mounts, so you can mount a red dot or other optic without any gunsmithing or machining. No optics mount comes included from the factory, so you will need to pick up a compatible HK claw mount separately. There are a number of good quality options available from aftermarket suppliers.
Is the MAC 5K compatible with HK and aftermarket MP5K parts?
Yes, it was built to original HK pattern specifications specifically to ensure compatibility with HK and most aftermarket components designed for the MP5K and SP5K platforms. That covers furniture, trigger pack housings, magazine releases, selector levers, and more. It is one of the stronger selling points of the MAC platform compared to some other MP5 clones.
What is the difference between the standard MAC 5K and this binary trigger version?
The core pistol is the same between both models: same roller-delayed blowback action, same barrel, same receiver, same overall specs. The difference is that this version comes with the Franklin Armory BFSIII HK-C1 binary trigger installed at the factory rather than the standard SEF-pattern trigger group. You get the added binary fire mode capability without having to source and install the trigger yourself.
