The whole idea behind the Midwest Industries SP-Series is running a shorter barrel with a longer handguard so your suppressor recedes inside the rail instead of hanging off the muzzle. That means a suppressed AR that stays closer to a normal carbine length instead of turning into a barge, plus your fingers stay away from a hot can. With a 1.75in inside diameter and a 2in outside diameter, there's room to tuck most suppressors under the rail while keeping the profile reasonable for a suppressor-ready design.
This is a one-piece free-float design machined from 6061 aluminum and finished in black hard coat anodizing, so it's built to take a beating and keep looking right. The top wears a continuous MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail that's T-marked so you can note accessory positions and get everything back where it belongs. Around the rest of the tube you get seven sides of M-LOK slots, giving you plenty of real estate for lights, hand stops, QD sockets, and whatever else your build calls for. Installation is straightforward, and Midwest includes the barrel nut and the matching wrench in the box so you're not hunting for extra tools. One thing worth double checking before you buy: the enlarged bore clears most cans, but you'll want to confirm your suppressor's outside diameter and leave clearance for any M-LOK hardware you plan to hang up front near the can.

The enlarged 1.75in inside diameter is designed to let most common AR-15 suppressors tuck up inside the rail. That said, the bore alone doesn't guarantee fit, so measure your can's outside diameter first. It's also smart to account for clearance if you plan to mount M-LOK hardware near the front where the suppressor sits.
You get the handguard along with the barrel nut and the matching barrel nut wrench, so you have the core tools needed to mount it. Midwest also includes one 5-slot Magpul M-LOK polymer rail section for adding a Picatinny accessory. It's backed by the Midwest Industries lifetime warranty and made in the USA.
It's built for AR-15 platform rifles and pistols using forged uppers, and it also fits the Midwest Industries billet upper. It does not fit large frame rifles, and it is not made for gas piston ARs. If you're running a billet upper from another maker, check with that manufacturer on dimensions before ordering.
Most people find it a straightforward job since the barrel nut and wrench come in the box. On a build you'll pull the existing handguard, remove the gas block and gas tube, then install the new barrel nut and slide the rail on.
