Description

The Midwest Industries Side Folder with MI Stock Tube bolts onto the vertical Picatinny rail at the rear of your receiver and gives you a folding stock or brace setup without reinventing your whole build. The hinge is machined from 4140 steel and clamps down with a large engagement surface, so lockup feels solid whether the stock is deployed or tucked against the receiver. A full-length locking lug does the heavy lifting for strength, and the whole thing can be set to fold left or right depending on how you run your gun.

What the MI Stock Tube Brings to the Table

The included aluminum stock tube runs a Mil-Spec 1.145 inch diameter, so it takes just about any AR-15 stock or pistol brace you already own. It's hard coat anodized to shrug off wear, and the back end hides a waterproof storage compartment for batteries, a cleaning link, or whatever small gear you want to keep with the gun. The complete assembly weighs in around 13.5 ounces, adds roughly 7.375 inches to overall length when deployed, and only about 0.75 inches when folded.

Where This Side Folder Fits Best

This is a favorite for bufferless and contained-recoil platforms where a traditional buffer tube setup gets in the way. Think BRN-180 lowers, CMMG Dissent, Foxtrot Mike FM-15 builds, CZ Scorpion, MPX, and pistol-caliber lowers with a rear 1913 interface. Folks running Ruger Chargers and similar builds like it for the same reason: it lets them mount a more comfortable adjustable stock or brace than what came in the box. Worth noting it is not a swap for a standard AR-15 buffer tube and won't add folding to a rifle that relies on an internal buffer and spring.

Build Quality You Can Count On

Midwest Industries machines this in the USA and backs it with a limited lifetime warranty. Steel parts wear a manganese phosphate finish, and the fit and finish is what you'd expect from MI gear. The folder can run a touch stiff out of the box, which is by design so it never backs out on you while you're shooting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the Side Folder with MI Stock Tube work on my AR-15?

It's meant for firearms with a vertical 1913 Picatinny rail at the rear of the receiver, not standard AR-15 lowers that use an internal buffer and spring. It shines on bufferless or contained-recoil platforms like the BRN-180, CMMG Dissent, and Foxtrot Mike FM-15. If your build relies on a traditional buffer tube, this isn't a direct replacement for it.

Can I set it to fold to either side?

Yes. The hinge is configurable for left or right folding, so you can set it up to match your platform and how you shoulder the gun. You choose the direction during installation.

Does the MI Stock Tube take my existing AR stock or brace?

The tube runs a Mil-Spec 1.145 inch diameter, so it accepts standard AR-15 stocks and pistol braces. That makes it easy to carry over a stock or brace you already like instead of buying new. Keep in mind the waterproof storage cap sits at the rear, so you may need to slide your stock forward or use one with a cutout to reach it.

How compact does it fold and how much length does it add?

Deployed, the assembly adds about 7.375 inches to your overall length, which is typical for a tube-and-stock setup. Folded, it only adds around 0.75 inches to the side of the firearm, making it much easier to store or transport. The complete assembly weighs roughly 13.5 ounces.
