The Alpha Fixed Beam Side Folder is Midwest Industries' answer for anyone running a 1913 Picatinny stock adapter who wants a folder that feels bank-vault solid. It bolts up to AR-15s, AKs with a 1913 adapter, the SIG MCX, and pretty much anything else sporting that rail interface. The whole thing is built from high-strength polymer, aluminum, and steel, and it ships configured for standard rifle use right out of the box.
The folding mechanism is machined from 4140 heat-treated steel with a full-length locking lug, and that's the part that matters most on a folder. You get a solid, positive lock-up in both the extended and folded positions, so there's no annoying wobble when you shoulder it. The steel clamp grabs the rail with a large surface engagement, which keeps things planted under recoil. Folded, it only adds about three-quarters of an inch to the firearm, and open it adds roughly 8.5 inches of length. The complete stock tips the scales right around a pound and a quarter.
Comfort is where this stock earns its keep. The adjustable polymer cheekpiece and curved top surface let you set your cheek weld exactly where you want it, which pays off when you're running a higher optic or a prism scope. The adjustable butt pad slides to your length of pull and works well when you've got a plate carrier or heavy gear on. There are three QD sling sockets built in so you can rig it up however you carry.
