Midwest Industries fixed that with the MIMP5M, a one-piece aluminum handguard that keeps the classic subgun silhouette while opening up modern mounting options. It machines from 6061 aluminum with a hard coat anodized black finish, and at just 4.8 oz with hardware, it won't throw off the balance that makes the MP5 so quick to run.
You get 15 full and 5 half M-LOK slots spread around the body, plus one five-slot M-LOK rail section included in the box so you can bolt on an optic mount, weapon light, or laser right away. Two anti-rotation QD sling swivel sockets are built in, giving you clean sling attachment on either side without extra hardware. The slim 1.6-inch diameter keeps things comfortable in the hand, which folks running vertical grips or with smaller hands tend to appreciate.
Installation is about as painless as aftermarket parts get. Midwest includes all the tools you need, and the drop-in design means no permanent modification to the gun, so you can always swap back to the factory setup down the road.
