The Midwest Industries Gen 2 Two-Piece is one of the easier ways to turn a plastic-handguard carbine into a free-floated, rail-covered setup without a trip to the gunsmith. It clamshells around your existing GI barrel nut, so you keep the barrel free from any contact with the fore-end and pick up steadier accuracy in the process. The two-piece design means no fighting the buffer tube or gas tube during install, and it locks down solid once the screws are torqued.
This is a full quad rail, so you get 1913 mil-spec Picatinny on the top, bottom, and both sides. The rails are T-marked for accessory location, which makes it painless to pull an optic or light off and put it back in the exact same spot. Up top there's a continuous monolithic-style rail that runs flush with a flat-top receiver, giving you an unbroken surface for iron sights, a red dot, or a scope mount. Four anti-rotation QD sockets are built into the sides for push-button sling swivels, so you can run single, two, or three-point setups without adding a separate mount.
The handguard is billet machined from 6061 aluminum and finished in hard coat anodized black for corrosion resistance and a lifetime of hard use. At 7 inches long and right around 9 ounces installed, it stays lightweight and keeps the balance of the rifle up front without feeling clubby. Internal specs come in at a 1.3-inch inside diameter, 2.3 inches wide, and 2.44 inches tall, so it clears standard profiles while keeping a slim, grippable feel.

Removal of the delta ring is required, and the barrel nut is not included since it uses your factory one. No, the barrel nut is not included. This handguard is designed to install over your rifle's standard GI barrel nut, so you use the factory one that's already on your upper. You will need to remove the delta ring to complete the install.
