It's built for standard AR-15 uppers and installs using the included Midwest barrel nut, so it does not rely on your existing nut. The 15-inch length is well suited to rifle-length gas systems and longer barrels. One thing to watch for: the anti-rotation tabs are keyed to standard receivers, so some billet uppers with tighter tolerances may need checking before install.
The bare handguard comes in around 9.7 ounces, and installed weight with the barrel nut runs about 11.4 ounces. That's genuinely light for a 15-inch aluminum rail and gets it close to carbon fiber territory for a lot less. Yes. Seven sides of M-LOK slots give you plenty of room for lights, foregrips, bipods, and pressure pads, and the continuous top Picatinny rail handles optics or backup sights.
