The gas tube is one of those small parts that quietly runs the whole show. It routes hot gas from your gas block back to the bolt carrier group so your AR-15 cycles round after round, and when it's the right one built the right way, you never think about it again. This mid-length tube from Sons of Liberty Gun Works is a factory OEM piece machined from stainless steel and sized for the mid-length gas system that sits between carbine and rifle length.
Mid-length setups run right around 11.75 inches of tube and are the sweet spot for 16 to 18 inch barrels. That extra distance over a carbine tube gives you a longer dwell time, which translates to a softer recoil impulse and less wear on your bolt carrier and receiver. It's why so many builders have leaned toward mid-length since it took off, and it pairs nicely with a longer handguard for a more comfortable grip out front.
Gas tubes take a beating from heat and fouling, so material matters. This one is turned from quality stainless steel that resists corrosion and stands up to the temperatures that come with sustained strings of fire. The bends and alignment are precision-machined, so it seats cleanly against the gas block and the gas key with minimal leakage. Sons of Liberty builds complete rifles that get run hard, and their gas tubes carry the same reputation for consistency.
This is a true drop-in replacement for any mil-spec AR-15 mid-length gas block and upper receiver. It's the tube you want whether you're assembling a fresh upper or swapping out an old one that's leaking or worn. The gas tube roll pin is included in the package, so you have what you need to pin it into the gas block and get to work. Just confirm your barrel is set up for mid-length before ordering, since a carbine or rifle tube won't line up with a mid-length gas port.
Mid-length gas systems are the go-to for barrels in the 16 to 18 inch range. The tube runs about 11.75 inches, sitting between carbine and rifle length. If your barrel's gas port is drilled for mid-length, this is the tube you want.
Yes. The gas tube roll pin is included in the package, so you can pin the tube into your gas block right out of the box. That saves you a trip hunting down a separate pin before you can finish the install.
It's a true drop-in replacement for any mil-spec AR-15 mid-length gas block and upper receiver. As long as your setup is mil-spec and built for a mid-length gas system, it will seat and line up correctly. Just avoid mixing it with a carbine or rifle-length gas port, since the spacing won't match.
The longer mid-length tube gives you more dwell time, which softens the recoil impulse and eases wear on the bolt carrier group and receiver. It also lets you run a longer handguard for a more comfortable grip up front. That combination is a big reason mid-length builds have become so popular.
