The Mission First Tactical Battlelink Minimalist Stock does exactly what the name promises: strips a carbine stock down to the essentials and comes in under 6 ounces at right around 5.8. That featherweight number is the whole point here. If you are building a lightweight recce rifle or just tired of hauling around a heavy back end, this is one of the lighter stocks you will find without stepping up to pricey aluminum. It molds from a reinforced, super-tough polymer, so the weight savings don't cost you durability.
Don't let the slim profile fool you. The flared sides give your cheek a genuinely good surface to rest on, and plenty of folks who have run one alongside a Magpul CTR or MOE SL find the cheek weld holds up surprisingly well thanks to the angled geometry rather than added bulk. The buttpad is a wide, angled rubberized surface with an aggressive rolled toe that catches your shoulder as you come up from low ready and makes shoulder transitions smooth. It grips well even over a plate carrier.
You get multiple sling slots along the underside sized for webbing up to 1.25 inches, plus a fixed bottom-mounted QD swivel socket that works for lefties and righties alike. The underside cutouts also let you braid in paracord if you want an A-frame setup to keep the hook shape from snagging.
It is a slide-on replacement for any mil-spec 1.148 diameter buffer tube, no permanent changes to your rifle. Pull the steel retaining pin down, work it onto the tube, and you are set. It is built for mil-spec 1.148 diameter carbine buffer tubes and slides right on with no permanent modifications. If your rifle runs a commercial-spec tube, you would want the commercial version instead. Most modern AR-15 builds use mil-spec, so this covers the majority of rifles out there.
That snug fit is intentional. The minimal internal contact surface grips the tube firmly, which is exactly what keeps the stock rattle-free once it is on. A few builders with tighter tubes report needing a little extra effort to slide it on or change positions, but that same fit is what gives you a solid, wobble-free cheek weld.
This one comes in around 5.8 ounces, which is noticeably lighter than common options like the Magpul CTR, MOE, or SL. If you are chasing a lightweight build, the Battlelink is one of the better weight-saving stocks in the polymer category. Just keep in mind that on a very front-heavy rifle, a lighter stock can shift your balance forward.
