Description

The Mesa Tactical Urbino stock takes the standard 14-inch pull of a factory Remington 870 and trims it down to a snappy 12.5 inches. That shorter reach is the whole point here. When you're wearing a plate carrier, a heavy coat, or just want the gun tucked in tight and quick to shoulder, those extra inches on a factory stock work against you. The Urbino brings the buttpad closer, keeps the muzzle where you want it, and makes the whole shotgun feel more like an extension of your body than a long lever you're wrestling.

It's molded from glass-filled nylon, which is a fancy way of saying it's tough and won't flex or rattle on you. This particular version pairs that shell with a Santoprene rubber pistol grip that's padded at the rear, so the web of your hand isn't taking a beating shot after shot. The grip has enough texture and shape to stay put even with sweaty or gloved hands, and it doesn't slip when things get moving.

What the Urbino Stock Does for Recoil

Buckshot and slugs out of a pump gun are no joke, and a short stock can sometimes make that worse if there's nothing soft between you and the receiver. Mesa handled that with a Limbsaver buttpad on the back end. It soaks up a real chunk of the felt recoil, which matters most when you're burning through a case at the range or grinding out a long qualification course. Less punishment means better follow-up shots and a lot less flinch by the end of the day.

Slings and Setup on the Urbino 870 Stock

Mesa built in Benelli-style rear sling loops sized for 1.25-inch webbing, plus a hole at the lower rear that accepts a QD-style swivel if you'd rather run a quick-detach setup. That gives you options depending on how you like to carry. The Urbino is a fixed-length design, made in the USA, and covered by Mesa Tactical's lifetime warranty. Fitment is specific to the Remington 870 in 12 gauge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Urbino stock fit any Remington 870?

This version is built specifically for the Remington 870 in 12 gauge. It's designed to work with the standard 870 receiver setup. If you're running a different gauge or model, check for the matching Mesa Urbino fitment before ordering.

How much shorter is the Urbino than the factory stock?

The factory Remington 870 stock runs about 14 inches of length of pull, and the Urbino brings that down to 12.5 inches. That inch and a half makes a real difference when you're wearing body armor or bulky clothing. It lets you keep the gun mounted properly without over-reaching.

Does this Urbino stock come with the adjustable cheek riser?

No, this particular SKU is the standard Limbsaver version without the cheek riser. If you plan to run an optic on a riser mount and want a raised cheek weld, Mesa offers a separate Urbino model that includes the adjustable cheekpiece. Keep in mind cheek risers only fit rail-equipped Urbino stocks.

Will the Limbsaver pad really cut down on recoil?

Yes, the Limbsaver buttpad is designed to absorb a good portion of felt recoil, which is exactly what you want on a short-stocked 12 gauge running buckshot and slugs. Combined with the padded rubber grip, it takes a lot of the sting out of long range sessions. Most folks notice the difference by the end of a heavy shooting day.
