The Mesa Tactical SureShell brings a practical approach to keeping extra ammunition accessible on your Remington 870. This isn't one of those cheap stick-on carriers that fall apart after a few rounds. The polymer shell holders are injection molded from glass-filled nylon and secured to your receiver with a lightweight aluminum backplate and brass threaded inserts, creating a system that stays put through real use.
Unlike basic shell holders, this saddle includes a 5-inch Picatinny rail machined from aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminum. That means you can mount your optics or backup iron sights directly on the saddle itself, giving you extra flexibility without needing additional modifications to your gun. The aluminum is mil-spec hard anodized with a non-glare matte finish that handles abuse and won't corrode.
The magic here is Mesa Tactical's rubber friction retention system. The saddle ships with black rubber installed for standard shotshell loads, and includes white rubber tubes for harder specialty shells. Shells stay securely in place without being locked in so tight you need tools to remove them. You can load and unload from either the top or bottom depending on your hand position.

The rubber retention system is designed to hold shells securely while still allowing quick access and easy removal. Shells should not rattle or fall out during handling, but you shouldn't need excessive force to remove them. If retention feels too loose, the white rubber tubes can be swapped in for a tighter grip on specialty shells.
