The Mesa Tactical SureShell AL with Picatinny Rail fits the Beretta 1301 Competition models and combines extra ammunition storage with a full-length optics mounting solution in one package. Made from 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum and finished with mil-spec hard anodizing, this carrier stays put through the toughest use while keeping a clean, professional appearance on your shotgun.
Mounting couldn't be more straightforward. The SureShell uses the factory-drilled and tapped holes on top of your receiver, so you just align it and screw it down. No modifications needed, no gunsmith visits. The integrated aluminum yoke sits on the left side of the receiver with the shell carrier positioned for natural reloading angles. Everything you need to mount it comes in the box.
The six-shell capacity holds 12-gauge rounds securely thanks to Mesa's innovative rubber friction retention system. Shells stay tight whether you load them primer-up or primer-down, and they won't rattle loose during firing or movement. The retention tubes included (with extra white rubber options for specialty loads) grip each shell individually so even vigorous action doesn't shake anything free.
The integrated 5.5-inch Picatinny rail gives you plenty of real estate for red dots, reflex sights, or other accessories. The rail is machined from the same aircraft aluminum as the rest of the assembly and finished identically, so everything looks like it belongs together. The longer rail on the Competition model means you get solid coverage across the receiver for whatever optic you choose.
This model is specifically designed for the Beretta 1301 Competition, which has a longer receiver and different screw hole spacing than the Tactical version. Mesa makes a separate SureShell for the 1301 Tactical that won't interchange with this one. Always confirm your exact 1301 model before purchasing to get the right fit.
The package includes a wrench and necessary mounting hardware, but you'll want a TORX screwdriver set to remove the factory rail that comes on the 1301. Once you remove the original rail, the Mesa unit bolts right down to those same holes. Expect about 15 to 20 minutes for installation if you have the right tools on hand.
Yes. The rubber friction retention system holds shells securely whether they're loaded primer-up or primer-down. This flexibility is useful if you've got different shooting styles or need to reload quickly from different angles. The shells won't fall out during firing or recoil no matter which direction you load them.
The 5.5-inch rail is built to MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny specs, so it works with any standard Picatinny-mount optic or accessory. Red dots, reflex sights, magnified optics, and tactical lights all mount securely. The longer rail on the Competition model gives you flexibility in placement compared to shorter tactical saddles.
